Are you a retailer or distributor interested in carrying Hilliard Hall Games Products?
At Hilliard Hall Games, we're currently seeking talented local freelance artists to collaborate on upcoming projects. These projects include brand-new releases as well as updates to our existing product catalogue.
This is a paid opportunity. We believe creative work deserves real compensation, and we take that commitment seriously.
Since our inception, we’ve maintained a clear stance: placeholder art may occasionally appear in early editions of our products to test ideas or gauge audience interest—but once a project proves itself, we turn to real artists to bring it to life. That time is now.
We’re looking to commission original artwork for an upcoming project, as well as for a near-term revamp of our existing product catalog.
We’re especially interested in the following styles and skills:
Cover illustrations. Bold, eye-catching designs that capture the spirit of a book.
Our cover art is truly intended to tell a story, and these works should be as exciting to view as the content within the pages. With these images, we want to maintain a whimsical fantasy tone, with vibrant colors and quirky details.
Character design & interior illustrations. Diverse, expressive characters with personality and storytelling in their design.
We aim to fill our pages with a diverse cast of fantasy characters that promote representation: be it gender, skin tone, or fantasy race & class, we belive this provides our readers with inspiration for fantasy settings that are as diverse as they are. From a style perspective, we aim for semi-realistic anatomy & proportions, expressive faces and a high level of detail with a painterly rendering and a grounded fantasy tone.
Environmental & object art. Evocative, modular art for magic fantasy locations, lairs, and loot.
These may range from massive full-page fantasy landscapes to unique weapons or magic items.
Fantasy Battlemaps. Simple, easy-to-follow maps for inclusion in our supplements.
These can be full-color or black-and-white "on grid" submissions, depending on the specific needs of a project.
Stylized Iconography & symbols. – Simple, bold visual language for borders, frames, parchment textures and other parts of our books.
Our projects range from full-page pieces to small spot illustrations, and we'd prefer to commission in batches to maintain visual consistency.
Artists who primarily work in AI-assisted tools or rely on generative AI for commercial outputs.
Unsolicited scripts, writing submissions, or unrelated pitches. Any unsolicited pitches will not be read and will be deleted.
Anime, horror, hyper-sexual or hyper-realistic art styles. While these art styles have a wonderful place in the hearts of many fans and are a tremendous reflection of talent, these styles do not fit the theme and desired style of our books.
If you're an illustrator interested in working with us, we’d love to hear from you!
